We're looking for dynamic librarians who are interested in sharing their passions both on-site at Illinois Central College on October 23 & 24, 2014 and virtually on October 31, 2014.

This year’s theme, the Digital Desk: reimagining the library in the wake of technology, focuses on digital innovation in community college libraries.

Join us this year at Forward Focus as we explore the Digital Desk.  The day will feature conversation, brainstorming, and identifying action steps you can take when you return home.

We’re looking for panelists to speak on the innovative use of technology in the library.  As technology evolves, how are you managing the impact of digital products and services in your library setting?   How is technology improving your library?  What lasting lessons have you taken away from your experiences?  We’ll compile a diverse group of four to inspire your digital creativity and set the tone for the day.

Would you like to lead a discussion or give a presentation instead?  We have multiple opportunities for discussion leaders and presenters. Here are a list of topics to consider (but if you have an idea outside of this, pitch it to us!):

Digital collections: new, expanded or integrated services

The Digital desk, new roles for reference services

Engaging students with digital media

Partnering around digital projects, interdisciplinary collaboration at your library

Technology and workflow: using tech for staff development and project management

Telling your Library’s story: using data for assessment and marketing

Using data to drive decision making: gauging interest, need, access to technology

Remember, you don’t have to be an expert on the topic to be a great discussion leader!  As a leader, you’ll have a few responsibilities such as:

Remaining neutral

Ensuring everyone has equal “air time”

Designating someone to take notes and/or potential action steps

Keeping the discussion productive

Have we sold you on helping us create a fantastic day of learning for your colleagues?  We hope so!

If you’re interested in being a panelist or a discussion leader, please complete the Call for Proposals form via this SurveyMonkey link by July 31, 2014:

We’ll let you know by August 6, 2014 if you’ve been selected!
